Natural Bronze:the step-by-step guide to a perfect tan!
With the arrival of good weather, it's time to take the fresh clothes out of the back of the closet, and start showing off more skin! After long months of cold, it is normal for the skin to be pale and dull. It's time to invest in extra skin care, to achieve a luminous and tanned look, naturally and safely! Come the terrace afternoons and beach days!
See our step-by-step guide to achieving a natural, luminous and perfect self-tan!
Step 1: Prepare the Skin
Before applying any product you have to prepare the skin, after all it all starts with a good foundation! In the shower, wash your skin and use an exfoliator to remove dead skin cells and leave your skin smooth and soft.
Step 2: Hydrate
After showering it is essential to moisturize the skin to ensure that the self-tanner is evenly absorbed into the skin. Don't forget to apply an extra dose on drier areas such as elbows and knees and let the skin fully absorb the cream as it can prevent the self-tanner from adhering to the skin.
Step 3: Apply the Self-Tanner
For an even application without smudges we suggest using an application glove such as the EcoTan by Sonya Self-Tanning Application Glove (2 Sides), perfect for self-tanning creams, foams or water.
Start by massaging the glove on the legs from the bottom up and go up the body, for the back an extra help always comes in handy 😉
Step 4: Hands and Feet
The hands and feet, but also the knees and elbows, can be a little more difficult than the rest of the body. As they are drier areas, the skin has to be well hydrated to absorb the self-tanner, after applying an extra layer of moisturizer, apply the cream, mousse or water carefully so as not to leave the skin too dark.
Step 5: Maintain the Perfect Bronze
Now you have a radiant and natural skin tone, just in time for summer! But how to make the color last? The answer is simple, hydration. Use a rich body moisturizer daily and you'll see your tan last longer and your skin will of course thank you.
- Don't forget to apply sunscreen every day! Apply sunscreen to your face, neck, shoulders, arms, legs, hands, and anywhere on any exposed body part (even if it's overcast!). See here sunscreens for the body and sunscreens for the face .
